Pemberton in the south west of WA is all about indulging in local gourmet produce, tasting top wines and feasting your eyes on breathtaking forest scenery.

The tall trees - Pemberton’s biggest attraction - are truly magnificent. Stretching skywards as far as the eye can see, these vast Karri giants are awe-inspiring… and in spring the forest floor transforms with a burst of colourful wildflowers.

The Gloucester Tree, in Gloucester NP, is one of three climbing trees in this region. The others two are the Bicentennial Tree in the Warren NP, and the Diamond Tree located of the South West Hwy between Pemberton and Manjimup.

Pemberton is also fast gaining a reputation for its wine and gourmet produce. Stop at the cellar door of a local winery for a bottle of chardonnay en route to a picnic at Beedelup Falls; or slap a steak on a BBQ at gorgeous Big Brook Dam.

It's the smell of the forest that you won't forget, the cool night air all year round, the romance and crackle of a log fire or the views from your verandah. It will make you feel refreshed and alive. While the karri forest may be the backdrop - Pemberton offers great diversity within a very small area.

Accommodation ranges from luxury to budget. There are beautiful lakeside chalets and country retreats offer the chance to kick back on your private veranda and listen to the Kookaburras.

Pemberton is served by a Westrail buses from Perth, Bunbury and Albany.

Things to do

Step back in time to Pemberton’s timber milling days and ride a steam train, tour a timber mill and taste some Aboriginal bush tucker. The town began as a timber town and was established in 1913. Before then, cattlemen and farmers had sparsely populated the surrounding country and the town's name comes from one of the earliest settlers, Pemberton Walcott.
