Touring Peel from Perth - Situated on Perth's doorstep, the Peel is one of the most visited regions in Western Australia. Known primarily for its aquatic activities such as boating, fishing and the beaches, the region also offers so much more. The magnificent jarrah forests around Dwellingup offer visitors a totally different experience than the coast. The mix of attractions and activities make the Peel a most appealing place to visit.

Day 1 - Leaving Perth, you travel via the Albany Highway, continuing on to Crossman and then make your way to Boddington. Situated on the meandering Hotham River, this quaint town offers a pleasant stopover as you journey the region. Farmstays are popular in this area. Leaving Boddington you head west toward Dwellingup in the heart of jarrah forest country. A visit to Dwellingup is not complete without spending time at the Forest Heritage Centre. Here visitors can take special walks through the jarrah forests and view a woodwork gallery. Nearby is the scenic Lane Poole Reserve and Scarp Pool, which makes a refreshing stop-off or picnic spot. Both are situated on the Murray River.

Day 2 - Today you will pass through Pinjarra where you can walk through the beautiful Edenvale homestead and grounds before you head south to Waroona. While in Waroona be sure to view the magnificent Vision Splendid Gardens. Next drive west across to the coast and observe the magnificent coastline at Preston Beach (four-wheel drive allowed on beach) before heading north into the centre of the Peel Region - Mandurah. Mandurah is itself a water lover's delight with wide-open waterways to cater for every aquatic pursuit known. Fishing, crabbing, sailing or swimming are all enjoyed in the popular holiday destination. Another major drawcard for the region is golf with many fine courses welcoming visitors to try their luck. A cruise on the Peel inlet is an ideal way to see Mandurah and much of what it has to offer. These are generally available daily.

Day 3 - Apart from the Arts & Craft places for you to enjoy, a visit to one of the two wineries in the district is a most enjoyable interlude. In fact you can visit two of them as you head back towards Perth in the Baldivis/Serpentine area. While near Serpentine and Jarrahdale visit the Serpentine Dam and Falls. Because of the Peel's proximity to Perth, three or four days is recommended or you can simply sample the region en route to the South West corner of the State.
