The Phoenix Theatre is operating out of the Hamilton Hill Memorial Hall, originally constructed in 1925. It was maintained by returned servicemen from the First World War. It functioned as a picture theatre every Friday, and dances were held on Saturday nights.
Presently the Phoenix Theatre Inc. provides the classic entertainment of Theatrical plays, productions, pantomimes and other live performances, that are a rare art form of today. Phoenix Theatre Inc. was announced as the winner of the "Sheila Buchanan Award” for having the drive and ambition to create a brand new theatre company for Perth. This presentation took place during the 2005 Independent Theatre Association Finley Awards in South Perth.
