In the north-west corner of Australia, there is a place so remote it’s called Faraway Bay.
Time is measured in tides and sunsets. Faraway Bay, The Bush Camp is a truly unique retreat, nestled on a rocky hilltop overlooking the Timor Sea, in the remote Kimberley. In intimate escape that feels like the edge of forever.
Experience a rare Kimberley wilderness encounter, remarkable beauty, isolation and history – in a remote slice of outback Australia. Arrive by light aircraft 280km NW from Kununurra, then ride by 4WD to The Bush Camp.
8 secluded cabins have spectacular views of Faraway Bay. Wake up each morning to birdsong and enjoy meals in the open air ‘Eagle Lodge’. Cruise to the spectacular King George Falls; fish in tidal creeks, discover ancient rock art, then cool off in the spring fed pool back at camp.
Restaurant/Bar
Special dietary requirements are easily accommodated by the resident chef. Eagle Lodge, the main meeting place at the Bush Camp, is surely Australia’s most unusual kitchen and dining room – it’s a room with no walls.
Getting There
Packages are ex Kununurra and include pick up from accommodation and scenic air transfers.
Getting there truly is part of this adventure, with access strictly limited to air and sea. The 70 minute scenic air transfer from Kununurra explores some of the most breathtaking scenery on earth. Highlights include the Ord River Irrigation Scheme, the surreal patterns of the mudflats and mangrove lined estuaries, spectacular coastline, Berkley River gorge and King George falls.
The flight ends at the private airstrip. From there you, travel by 4wd vehicle for the final few kilometres to The Bush Camp. Charter flights direct to Faraway Bay from Broome or Darwin may also be arranged.
