The town of Broome is surrounded by Roebuck Bay and the Indian Ocean and their scenic beauty and influence on the town's microclimate are the very reasons the site was chosen for a township.
Roebuck Bay was named after explorer William Dampier's vessel by the crew of the HMS Beagle who visited the bay in 1840, as a tribute to his contribution to exploration.
The changing colours in the ebb and flow of Roebuck Bay are simply enchanting. At low tide, the milky turquoise waters retreat to expose a horizon of mud flats. You will be amazed by the ever-changing view of the bay.
