Along the beachfront from the jetty to Gantheaume Point as well as Riddell Point and Red Hill are the infamous and very distinctive red soils of Broome. Locally known as the Pindan Soils, these glorious stretches of scarlet meet the white sandy shores, lush tropical vegetation and turquoise blue seas to create a visual masterpiece. The interplay of colour and texture is one of the most unusual and dramatic sights to be seen in Australia.

Getting There

  • From Broome, drive south along Port Drive on the way to Cable Beach, and turn west onto a dirt road just before the BP fuel depot to access views of the Pindan Soils
