The area surrounding Mount Barker, Frankland and the Porongurup National Park was originally an agricultural centre covered by apple orchards, sheep and cattle, the Mount Barker area now combines premier wines with colourful wildflowers and a granite range over 1,000 million years old. There are also a number of olive groves in the area.
