Lake Dumbleyung

0 reviews | Write a review

Lake Dumbleyung is the largest semi-permanent stretch of inland water in Western Australia.

Approximately 13 kilometres long and 6.5 kilometres wide, it is famous as the site of the late Donald Campbell's historic world water speed record set on 31st December 1964, in The Bluebird.

The lake may be inspected from a lookout and special gravel track constructed for such purpose. We do not recommend that you tow your caravan along the track spoken of, which is otherwise trafficable.

A further 3 kms from the lake picnic lookout is Kersley Scenic Drive leading to the Yacht Club and Donald Campbell Memorial Lookout.

This drive provides expansive panoramic views of the lake including an almost aerial view from Pussycat Hill at the site of the Campbell Memorial. This road is also unsuitable for caravans.
