Tammin derives its name from a small marsupial, the Tamma (the local aboriginal name for a type of Wallaby).
Hunts Well is an historical site located a few kilometres south of the town. Explorer Charles Hunt used these wells and dams along his early exploration route.
An unusual granite outcrop is located 26 kilometres noth of Tammin, 341 metres high it provides good climbing.
Charles Gardiner National Park, with an area of 600 hectares, is best viewed during spring and winter when it is ablaze with wildflowers.
