An agricultural district of cereal crops, sheep and cattle production, emu breeding and jojoba production. Wagin is a thriving country town. Attractions in and around town include some fine Federation architecture, natural rock formations, and several large lakes providing a wonderful photo opportunity for visitors. Accommodation is available, both hotel, motel and bed & breakfast.
The Wagin Historical Village, winner of the 2002 Heartlands Tourism Award, is open every day from 10am to 4pm is a working example of a pioneer village of 25 original and replica buildings. A schoolhouse, bank, blacksmith, tea rooms, pioneer shearing shed plus lots more. The latest being an original 'outhouse' or 'dunny' saved from destruction and restored.
