Bruce Rock is a typical wheatbelt town with some very interesting things to do and see. The surrounding area was traditionally a wheat and sheep area but more recently there has been the addition of lupins, peas, barley and pigs & goats.

The town got its name from a low granite outcrop of Bruce Rock, from which the town derives its name is located east of the town. There are 2 wells at this site, including a historic rectangular shaped well.
