Turquoise Bay is located 60 kilometres south of Exmouth. Aptly named, this bay is symbolic to all that is special in Ningaloo Marine Park. It provides a perfect place to relax, swim or dive with the abundant array of marine life only metres from the shoreline.
Snorkelling within the Bay is quite rewarding and easy. To do the more popular drift snorkel, walk around the beach side and south down the beach about 300 metres. Enter the water, swim straight out about 30 to 50 metres and let the current take you along in a northerly direction. As you snorkel you'll swim over coral bombies, remember not to touch the corals and beware of fin damage. Exit near the sand bar.
The Turquoise Bay area possesses strong currents which are usually confined to the beach immediately west and south of the bay. Check the tidal movements and assess conditions accordingly. The drift snorkel is suited to swimmers of an average fitness and snorkelling ability.
Care should be taken when strong currents are running in the vicinity of the bay.
