The town has a range of antiques, homewares, country crafts and gift stores as well as a wonderful bookshop called Best Loved Books, which has over 7000 books from the last 100 years.
Forests and parks dominate the region, several of which are located just outside Emerald. The Emerald Lake Park is a 50-ha heritage park that features old exotic tree species, lawn areas, picnic facilities, barbecues, waterslides, swimming pools, walking tracks and an Environmental Information Centre. The Cardinia Reservoir Park is Melbourne's largest water storage area with a shoreline of 56kms and a beautiful section of parkland with walking trails and lookout.
Emerald Lake boasts the largest model railway display in the southern hemisphere. The Emerald Lake Model Railway features 2 km of HO scale track, detailed scenery, working models and push-button participation with 35 operating trains.
Discover Emerald by following the Bunyip Byways Tourism Trail, which is a self-drive tour focusing on the attractions such as heritage sites, natural landmarks, antiques, golf courses & tea rooms. It follows a circular route from Gembrook through Berwick to Tooradin. Maps and information available.
