The intriguing name Wycheproof is said to be derived from the Aboriginal place name 'witchi-poorp', which means 'grass on a hill'. The small service town has about 800 people, a large bushel silo and railway line straight through the centre of town.
Standing at a 'not so imposing' height of 43 metres, Mt Wycheproof is the smallest registered mountain in the world, so climbing to the top may not be the biggest feat you will endure but the views of the surrounding plains are beautiful.
