From Melbourne:
Melbourne to Halls Gap - 253km (about 3hrs driving time).
To reach the Grampians from Melbourne, either follow the Western Highway (A8) through Ballarat to Ararat or from Ballarat, follow the Glenelg Highway (B160) to Dunkeld and enter the Grampians Region from the southern end.
Coming from Adelaide, simply head to Bordertown via the Dukes Highway (A8). This becomes the Western Highway across the border, passing through Nhill, Dimboola and the Little Desert National Park to Horsham.
Alternatively, head to Coonawarra (A1) and enter the Grampians via Coleraine, Hamilton and Dunkeld (B160) – the area known as the Southern Grampians. Arriving from the north or south is equally picturesque. Heading up from the south coast means travelling the beautiful Great Southern Touring Route which takes in the Great Ocean Road and the lush hinterland from Portland and Port Fairy to Penshurst and Hamilton.
