Overview

Walkerville is a tiny settlement on the sandy shores of Waratah Bay, and was once one of the busiest places in South Gippsland due to its thriving lime industry. You can still see remnants of the burnt-out lime kilns on the cliffs of Walkerville South, which also features a historic cemetery. Walkerville North, reached by a separate road or along the 750 metre beach walking track, has boat ramp access, swimming and camping.

  • Both Walkerville North and South overlook the Wilsons Promontory National Park and Cape Liptrap Coastal Park, which features strikingly beautiful scenery.

Getting There

  • 2.5 hours drive from Melbourne; Via the South Gippsland Highway
