Overview

A small dairy township set between the rolling hills of the Strzelecki Ranges and Corner Inlet, Toora is a great base to explore the many nearby state and national parks, including Wilsons Promontory. On the hills behind the town and seen from miles around are the large turbines of the wind farm that produce green energy.

  • Nearby, Port Franklin on the banks of the Franklin River, services a number of professional fishing boats that work the waters of Corner Inlet and Bass Strait. While the Toora bird hide, set at the edge of the inlet, allows bird watchers to view the international wetland site, renowned for the huge variety of migratory birds which nest in the area.

Getting There

  • 2 hours drive from Melbourne along the South Gippsland Highway
  • Coaches operate daily from Melbourne
