A long curve of magnificent ocean beach with a backdrop of Wilsons Promontory to the south characterises the township of Sandy Point. Strolling along the pristine beach at Sandy Point and looking across towards The Prom it is impossible to ignore the beauty and relaxed nature of the town.

Sandy point was first developed from farming land and scrub and now consists of an interesting mixture of beach houses and permanent residences in a wide range of architectural styles.

  • Sandy Point is renowned as a hot spot for windsurfers and is home of the current world speed record made by a sailing craft. A popular holiday spot, Sandy Point offers a variety of accommodation from the local caravan park, backpackers to holiday homes. It is a great spot for surfing, fishing, windsurfing and boating. The town has a surf club, local store and cafĂ©. Sandy point is a relaxed town with a holiday feel.

Getting There

  • Sandy Point is located approximately 200Kms south-east of Melbourne
  • Two and half hours travel along the South Gippsland Hwy via Fish Creek, turning off at Meeniyan
