Rhyll is a sheltered port town on the northeast tip of Phillip Island which dates back to 1826 – when it was established as a temporary British settlement named Flagstaff, eventually settled in 1856.
Rhyll is a popular holiday destination for those wanting to escape from Melbourne. Points of interest include the Rhyll Inlet, Churchill Island Marine National Park, and the Koala Conservation Centre.
Throw a line off the jetty, hire a fishing charter or try your luck at the Rhyll Fishing Park. The town also boasts a number of excellent walking trails, such as the Rhyll Wetlands Boardwalk.
Named after a holiday resort in North Wales, the town features an excellent boat ramp, 2 jetties, a yacht club and sailing school. There’s also a wide range of B&B’s, caravan parks and holiday units.
BBQs, public toilets and tennis courts are located in Rhyll Park, behind the Rhyll Mechanics Hall in Lock Road. There are also BBQs and toilets on Beach Road, on the foreshore near the jetty.
