Woooo hooooo! Great place to stay during the Racin carnival. Had a great time and fun down at the bar on Saturday. Stayed in most backpackers places and must say, Staff was great, Cafe dished up excellent food above the standards to many places i have stayed or eaten during my travel. The cleaners spent lots of time making the bathrooms clean and caring with our rooms. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to my fellow travellers. Keep up the good work.

Horrible hostel. The staff were rude, and had absolutely no idea about Melbourne. They were totally useless and didn't care!
I felt like I might die every time I got in the lift. There are no stairs all the way to the roof, only a fire escape.
Room was tiny, and the sheets didn't look clean.
There was no free airport pick up, even though it says it on their website, and i confirmed before getting there.
The location was good though, and the bathrooms weren't too bad, but it's not worth it.

This place is awesome! The staff are really friendly and very helpful. They can help with anything. The bar is amazing, really cheap drinks and loads of fun things to do. It's pretty big with plenty of space which is good. The rooms and bathrooms are not that bad considering the size of the place. Definitely should stay here, you'll make lifelong friends!!

I had to pass 3 nights in this one, but I stayed only 2, and I changed for another one.
Bedrooms are okay, cleaned, but the kitchen is not a kitchen! That was always dirty, and it was not easy to cook and eat there ... There is not much cutlery, no glass, and fridges are too old...
$26 for a bedroom is not expensive, but not cheap too!
If you do not make attention to the premises, it is ok just for one night.
In my opinion, if you have another opportunity, choose another one.

I have staid at Hotel Discovery for 5 days. And what can I say. This place rocks!
The staff is awesome. They know everything about and around Melbourne.
The space is enormous… so much space… but that what you need here… with backpackers everywhere… really everywhere… Lots of people form different countries.
I met here so many backpackers. I had also a great time in the underground bar. Great music and drinks specials. I never had drunk that cheap in Australia before… ?
I must say, I would come back and everyone who doesn’t check out this place will miss out.

I have been a frequent visitor to Melbourne and have stayed with Hotel Bakpak in the past. I have found many changes within the hotel from the welcoming appearance of the reception area to the customer service. I would like to thank many of the Reception staff who have made my return quite a memorable stay. The cafe the Bar all seem to be quite vibrant and food have been vastly improved. Once again i would like to recomend this to any fellow traveller that want a happening and clean enviroment.
