The City of Monash, with 160 862 residents, is Melbourne's most populous municipality. It is also close to the demographic centre of Melbourne, lying 20 km south east of the CBD in Melbourne's fastest growing population corridor.
The City's leafy streetscapes are a feature of the area, as are the 600 hectares of parks, gardens and reserves managed by Council. It has excellent sporting facilities catering especially for football, cricket, swimming, basketball, netball, softball and golf.
Monash has developed a reputation as a "high tech" centre for industry. The Monash Technology Precinct, one of the most important in Australia, contains some of the nation's most prestigious research organisations.
