Bacchus Marsh is one of Victoria’s older towns and is a popular commuter destination of Melbourne being only 55km northwest of the city centre. The town has many quaint arts and craft shops and some great pubs! Use the town as a base to explore the surrounding region and its natural wonders, including the wilderness of the Lerderderg Gorge and Wombat State Forest.
The town retains many of its historically significant buildings definitely a must see before you wander off into the scenic fertile valley surrounded by hills and rivers around Bacchus Marsh.
Bacchus Marsh is a support centre for a range of manufacturing industries and the surrounding area hosts dairy and grazing farms, orchards and market gardens. The orchards and gardens supply the town with fresh produce, which you can pick up in one of the local fruit stalls. There is also an open-cut coal mine on the outskirts of town.
