Situated at the foot of the breathtaking Great Dividing Range in North East Victoria, the picturesque town of Jamieson is a great place to have a well-earned escape. Located at the intersection of the Jamieson and Goulburn Rivers, the clean and sparkling waters provide a Mecca for fishing enthusiasts and those who enjoy water sports. The Jamieson boat-launching ramp provides access to Lake Eildon, the largest inland waterway in the state.
Bordered by millions of hectares of untouched bushland, alpine wilderness and majestic sub alpine valleys, Jamieson is the southern gateway to the Alpine National Park. The quaint township was settled for gold prospectors in the rugged High Country to the Jordan Goldfields. By the 1850’s the population of Jamieson was 3,000 - 4,000. At its height the town had five hotels, each with its own orchestra, and ten breweries.
Presently, a small but vibrant community remains, nestled among beautiful deciduous trees in an area rich in heritage. Sit back and take advantage of the legendary hospitality and friendliness of the locals.
Whilst surrounded by rugged and remote country, Jamieson is less than three hours drive from Melbourne; making it the ideal for a weekend or mid-week escape all year round.
