The Eildon Pondage has the reputation of being one of Victoria's most popular fishing destinations. The surrounding countryside boasts a beautiful natural vista making it a popular family destination.

Rainbow trout and brown trout are regularly stocked by Fisheries Victoria, Golden Perch and Redfin can also occasionally be found.

The pondage is actually a shallow lake and water levels fluctuate due to regular releases of water from Eildon dam and extraction of water for regional irrigators.

There is no boating allowed on Eildon Pondage but most of the shoreline is accessible to anglers. Access signs are located around the lakes edges.
