With 263ha of spectacular skiable terrain, including more than 80km of groomed trails, scenic panoramas most resorts would die for and more places to eat, drink and be merry, there is no winter resort in Australia equivalent to Mt Buller.
An easy three-hour drive from Melbourne, Mt Buller is the most accessible major snow resort in Australia. Just 248km northeast of Melbourne, no major Australian alpine resort is closer to a capital city or to an international airport.
Situated high in the snowfields, the village is charming with quaint lodges, luxurious hotels and modern apartments positioned so you can ski from the slopes to your front door. There is a fantastic selection of restaurants, cafes and bars and a variety of shops.
The slopes are amazing in their variety as they range from gentle and groomed to steep and fast. With rugged ridges, cliff drops and tree runs, Mt Buller is a natural playground, however there is also a fully designed and maintained Terrain Park and a sculptured Half Pipe and Rail Park. Mt Buller offers the largest lifting capacity of any Victorian alpine resort with the ability to move 40,000 skiers per hour on its network of 25 lifts - which means more time out on the slopes and less waiting in queues.
An extensive snowmaking system and Ski Guarantee support Mt Buller’s snow reliability; the most generous in Australia, providing refunds on all prepaid components of a Mt Buller holiday, including accommodation.
Mt Buller is the home of the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia and some of our finest winter athletes. Australian world champion and gold medallist Alisa Camplin calls Mt Buller home, along with fellow ‘Flying Kangaroos’ Lydia Ierondiaconou, Liz Gardner and Jacqui Cooper.
Mt Buller has an abundance of activities on offer on and off the slopes including snow tubing, snowshoeing and tobogganing, as well as Australia’s highest cinema screening the latest movies, two gymnasiums and a huge indoor sports complex at La Trobe University's Mt Buller campus. An exciting calendar of events and festivals, friendly resort staff, unparalleled service and first-class facilities create a complete experience unlike any other.
