Aireys Inlet is a pleasant holiday destination characterised by the beautiful surrounds of ochre cliffs, rock pools, and the magic of secluded and majestic beaches.
Located on the Great Ocean Road, the town has the appearance of a modern holiday town nestled among trees beside low, ancient cliffs, the ocean and the river valley. Most of the houses in the town are new holiday homes, but the residential population continues to grow.
The town is surrounded by the Angahook Lorne State Park, where water is fed into the Painkalac Creek, which runs down into the ancient estuary behind the sand dunes of Aireys Inlet. From the Inlet, enjoy uninterrupted views across Bass Strait, or back inland to the shadows of the Otways, which give Aireys Inlet the reputation for having on of the highest number of rainbows on the Victorian Coast.
There are a range of activities to enjoy, such as great fishing, surfing, horse riding, mountain biking, canoeing, and hang gliding. Discover the magic of the rock pools at low tide, stroll along the magnificent cliff tops or wander down to the rocky reefs and sheltered coves of the coastline. Split Point Lighthouse, dubbed “the White Queen” by an early resident, has a café with a historical photographic display and from here you can embark on some wonderful walks.
The town boasts a general store, cafes and restaurants and craft stores and galleries, and you can choose from hotel/motel, caravan-park, cottages or bed & breakfast accommodation.
