My names is Donna Noakes and I am a Civil Celebrant who has had the honour of performing many weddings at Birdsong Retreat. What a truly magical place it is. The hosts of this rural retreat, David and Kerryn go that extra step to ensure that the bride and groom have a stress free day. Every wedding I have had the pleasure to be invited to perform at Birdsong Retreat, has happened with a simply special feeling of intimacy and that beautiful country outlook that provides a truly special day.
The food to so very good - can one even say that you won't be disappointed in any way shape or form with the service you will receive when you book your wedding here.
I highly recommend this venue for people looking for that special country outlook for their wedding.

We've just had a too-short break at birdsong, and the photos here don't do justice to the beauty of the valley and the Otways. The Alpacas are gorgeous too! It was great to be away from the busy-ness of the beachside, but close enough to travel to the beach whenever we wanted to. Very relaxing and enjoyable stay.
We are glad this client found our retreat relaxing, we do try to give good old fashioned service,.

We recently had our wedding at Birdsong, we strongly recommened David and Kerryn they made everything relaxing and the food was great and good value for money, the cabins are fantastic, the beds were so comfortable, the views are spectaclar, having a wedding there is great because there are so many places you can have photos and actually get married lots of people commented on how great the locaction was. Thanks David and Kerryn.
Another happy couple who were using birdsong retreat as a fun country wedding venue. Not just picking us as we are cheaper than holding a wedding in Melbourne. WE try to give good old honest value for money weddings, with good homemade food, excellent service and views to kill for.

Our daughter and son in law has just held their wedding there on the weekend… cannot speak to highly of David and Kerryn they will do anything for you to make your day special any theme any decoration. The catering is fantastic and food is out of this world. Also plenty of it. Specially breakfast next morning. Looking for a non ordinary wedding then this is the place for you. At half the cost of other reception centres and all the guests can stay over for the whole weekend.
A pleasure to have a group of people who enjoy the country and had a great time and a wonderful wedding.

Complaint:I booked my wedding at Birdsong Country Retreat in March 2007 for my wedding in January 2008. They would not send a receipt for my $2000 deposit and since June 2007 they have been completely uncontactable by email, fax, post or mobile. This property is also for sale. I since have cancelled my wedding there and am $2000 out of pocket. Stay away!
We would not normally reply to un named comments, but we feel we need to in this case.This client has been aware the property was for sale from the moment she booked. The property has been sold with her booking intact. In fact the sale contracts were based around her booking which was for 2009! We are continuing to do weddings for the new owner. Who will also be doing some upgrades such as toilets in the barn for weddings. These bookings would still be getting the extras but at the old set price.
When booking a wedding we like all properties request a deposit which is non refundable. This is the money mentioned in the review. We have spent time showing this couples representatives round the property giving then coffee and cakes when we did.They then cancel and write reviews as above.We also sent a receit by email and have spoken on the phone to discuss items for the wedding.

If you are looking for a relaxed, low key wedding outside of Melbourne, then I would recommend Birdsong Retreat. My husband and I got married at Birdsong in March 2007. The food cooked by Kerryn was outstanding and the venue made for a relaxed and fun wedding. Thanks David and Kerryn

Absolutely beautiful views of surrounding countryside and great hospitality. I would recommend this to all seeking a relaxing holiday which is out of the way, whilst still being close to many of the great attractions that the Great Ocean Road has to offer.

Apart from the stunning surroundings, really homely clean comfy cabins. David a host extraordinaire, a man who saws down his fence post to get your car out of a ditch you've managed to get stuck in and is still smiling. Not to mention 4 teenagers that didn't once mention that ''Bored" word & want to go back. Truly Magical.
Always willing to try and help our guests have the break they deserve in our wonderful surroundings.
If you want privacy,comfort and a beautiful country setting, spectacular views with access to the glorious Otway ranges and the ocean this is the place. You will want to stay longer in these old fashioned cottages with modern comforts.
We try and keep the cottages in the old style but with up to date spas etc.
