Hugging the mouth of the Glenelg River is the small fishing and holiday town of Nelson. Fewer than 400 people reside in the town, making it a charming village with a relaxed atmosphere.
Take a cruise on the river and experience fifteen kilometres of limestone river gorge. At points the towering cliffs rise up fifty metres on both sides of the river. The river also provides excellent swimming, bird watching and fishing opportunities.
The rugged wilderness of Discovery Bay can be found on the ocean side of Nelson. The coastal park that protects this coastline includes a 50-kilometre long beach and some of the largest sand dunes in Victoria.
