The Geelong region is renowned for the production of high quality wines. The region produces excellent Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon. Geelong boast numerous cellar doors and hosts several popular wine festivals.
Areas within the region have varying microclimates influencing the flavours of the wines. The Bellarine Peninsula has a maritime climate with bay breezes and fantastic views, whilst the hills and valleys of the Anakie and Moorabool Valley areas have a beautiful warm, continental style climate.
Viticultural practices such as hand pruning and hand picking are extensively used to encourage low yields and produce complex, sought after wines that are the hallmark of the region.
If there is a unifying feature in all of the Geelong wines, it is their strength and depth of colour, bouquet and flavour. - James Halliday - Wine Atlas of Australia and New Zealand
