With a population 200, Port Campbell is located 283km south west of Melbourne and is nestled amongst some of the Victoria’s most spectacular coastline scenery, including Port Campbell National Park and the Twelve Apostles.
Named after Captain Campbell - a Scotsman in charge of Port Fairy's whaling station - the town began as a small fishing port with surrounding pastoral runs.
Shell middens along the coast have provided evidence of ancient presence, diverse diet and lifestyle of the Kirrae–Wurong people. Sealers and whalers were the first European visitors to these shores.
