Nestled on the banks of the majestic Murray and at the heart of a fertile agricultural region, Swan Hill is a stylish, welcoming township. Discover the towns rich colonial past at the Pioneer Settlement near the centre of town, which is famous the nation over as a superbly recreated port town of the paddle steamer era.

Long ago, steamers like the 'Gem' plied their trade along the Murray and turned Swan Hill into a major port. Today you can still take a river cruise on the Paddle steamer 'Pyap' or 'MV Kookaburra'. As the earthen banks of the river glide slowly past, you realise how the pace of life was so different in that bountiful era of river trade now forever gone.

However the Murray offers much more than intriguing journeys into the past. There's excellent fishing, swimming and skiing to be enjoyed in locations like Tooleybuc and Lake Boga near Swan Hill.

There are six quality golf courses in the region including the renowned Murray Downs Golf and Country Club as well as first-rate amenities for tennis, bowls and aquatic sports.
