Elderly Homes More Exciting

Posted by travel aus from Colac, Australia

Staff are friendly... that’s about the only positive I could find. There website states "Gas Heated Swimming Pool" it's actually solar heated and you don't have to worry about getting burnt whilst swimming because it's completely covered by trees. Not one person went swimming the 5 Nights we were up there. The very entrance to the park looks nice, just where the owners have their cabin then welcome to the desert. If you are going to stay here I highly advise you to choose a cheap cabin. The more expensive cabins are about 3k's away from the entrance and the swimming pool. We went the Spa deluxe suite for $130 a night. Very nicely laid out cabin on the inside. If you have more than two people bring your own chairs though because they have only a two person couch. Upon arrival we found our room covered in big bull ants, after the food scraps that the cleaners must have missed last time. Rooms were nice but there is no view of anything, look out the right and you see a vacant lot, look out the front and you see where the Murray "used to be". Went to have a spa on first night only to discover that the plug provided did not fit, reception was no help so had to buy our own plugs for sink and spa. Hot water service not so good so you only get a hot spa to your knees sitting down. Games room for kids dark and never used.

Thank you for your feedback.
In reply we would like to take this opportunity to answer some of your points;
The swimming pool is gas heated, unfortunately our signage at the park has not been up dated. (Aspen Parks purchased this property in November 2007 and signage and developments are being carried out over the continuing months)
Given the Australian hot summer’s we try to create as much shade as possible during these months, sometimes this does not let in as much sun during the colder months.
The entrance of the park does have more grass than inside the park due to the limited amount of traffic compared to the rest of the park. Mildura region is in the biggest drought in over 100 years and bylaws enforce water restrictions and also states lawns are not to be watered.
The very nature of the shape and size of the park is that the accommodation (43 cabins & 50 sites) is spread out and not all will be located near the pool. Cabins are also located with the travellers in mind who want space and privacy.
Unfortunately the ants are part and parcel of the drought. They are attracted to any sign of water. To assist with this problem the parks has changed the deodoriser & disinfectant as the sweet smells were attracting the ants also, due to the situation and cause – re drought the local pest control is unable to assist.
The Murray River’s level has hardly altered in the last 5-7 years in front of the park as the park is situated about 8kms from the lock and weir on the downstream.
We apologise for the lack of plugs as this was an error and has now been rectified.
The hot water service is the size that most private homes use and has a 20-30min return on hot water.
In doing our part for the environment, lights are not left on in rooms such as the games & TV rooms when not in use.
Regards,
Aspen Parks
