The Murray River forms a large part of the border of Victoria and New South Wales. Cobram is located 246 km north of Melbourne on the Murray Valley Highway and 109 metres above sea level.
The Murray separates Cobram from its NSW town of Barooga. It is a diverse agricultural district producing everything from citrus fruits to beef, wool and cattle.
Naturally, the Murray, with its towering red gums and sandy beaches, is one of Cobram’s biggest attractions. Popular activities are canoeing, boating, swimming, bushwalking and fishing.
The small section of land between the town and the river has forest and wetland areas. It is crisscrossed by unsealed tracks, which span out from the town's roads, granting access to the many beaches to the north of town.
