Skipton is a town in the Western District of Victoria. The community is located on the Glenelg Highway 52 kilometres south west of Ballarat.

Skipton is named after Skipton, in Yorkshire, England and is known as "the home of the platypus".

  • The town is also renowned for the fine wool that is the main agricultural product of the Skipton area.
