Corinella is located 114 km southeast of Melbourne via the M1 and the Bass Highway. This attractive fishing and holiday resort is situated opposite French Island on the eastern edge of Westernport Bay.
This quaint township offers you all the services you may need; the general store and newsagency are also agents for the bank and post office. There is a hall and community centre, and a caravan park is on the foreshore.
Corinella has a jetty, slipway and an excellent 24-hour all-tide boat ramp. Hire a boat to explore the area of catch the barge that will take passengers, cars and stock to the nearby French Island.
Corinella is one of the first British townships settled in what is now Victoria. A cairn in Jamieson Street commemorates the settlement established in Corinella from 12 December 1826, to 19 February 1828, by a party of soldiers and convicts under the command of Captain Samuel Wright.
Barbecues, public toilets, a playground, tennis and bowls are located in the Harold Hughes Reserve, a great place for a day out with family or friends.
Things to do
A number of walking tracks at Settlement Point provide spectacular views overlooking Westernport and French Island. There is also a good walking track from the end of Jamieson Street back to the Esplanade.
