Somers has many scenic picnic areas that adjoin the foreshore reserve on Western Port Bay. It has a general store, post office and yacht club and stretches along the foreshore towards HMAS Cerberus - a major Royal Australian Navy establishment.

The town is popular with city dwellers who wish to retreat from the bustle of Melbourne and who wish to have a coastal beachside holiday home.

The main attraction in Somers is the Coolart Wetlands & Homestead, which are surrounded by vast gardens that boast great bushwalking and birdwatching. The Homestead and Gardens often play venue to a series of twilight concerts. The wetlands are fed by the pure waters of Stony Creek that runs down the hills from Red Hill into the bay at Somers. The bushland surrounds are home to a large population of koalas, which can be seen frequently.

Getting There

- On Western Port Bay, 28km south of Frankston and 68km south-south-east of Melbourne.
