Rosebery 

Rosebery is a tranquil town in a picturesque rainforest setting. Nestled on the banks of the Lake Rosebery.

The town is the perfect base for excursions to the stunningly beautiful natural wonders of the north west, such as Cradle Mountain, the Montezuma waterfall, the Franklin River and the magnificent rainforests of the Hellyer Gorge

Gold was discovered in Rosebery in the late 1800's although the only mining that occures there now is for zinc, the town has a strong and exciting history.

Rosebery is a true mining town - far below, the drilling still goes on.

Things to do

Hercules to Rosebery Aerial Ore Bucket Ropeway - Constructed to move ore from the Hercules mine to Rosebery this aerial ore ropeway continued to operate until 1986. Since then it has collapsed. The remnants of this highly unusual method of ore transporation can be south of the town.

Things to do

• Montezuma Falls - The Montezuma Falls stand at 113 metres and, are the highest falls in Tasmania. The walk involves about 5 km along an old railway track - unless you have a 4WD. It takes 3 hours return.
• Don River Railway (Steam)- The Don River Railway will be operating a steam hauled train from Rosebery to Burnie. Enjoy a leisurely rail through magnificent rainforest country as we journey along the former Emu Bay Railway line.
