Tasmanian Chairlifts

0 reviews | Write a review

Discover the magic and beauty of the huge natural basin filled by the surging waters of the South Esk River. Tasmanian Chairlift’s central span of 308 metres is believed to be the longest single chairlift span in the world.

It takes about eight minutes to take the ride across Cataract Gorge and First Basin. Top speed is a sedate one metre per second, but usually the chairlift runs slower than that to afford passengers a longer ride. Since it’s opening in 1972, the chairlift has established a 100% safety record.

  • Discover the natural beauty that Tasmania has to offer with surging waters and stunning forest views on the Tasmanian Chairlift.
