Geeveston (population 820) is 45 minutes (60 kilometres/37 miles) south of Hobart on Highway A6 and is Australia’s most southerly administrative centre and the gateway to the Tahune Airwalk and the Hartz Mountain National Park.
It is in the centre of the Island’s apple and stone fruit growing area and an important timber industry base. Geeveston was settled, in 1849, by William Geeves and his descendants are still part of the community.
