Located northwest of Hobart and southwest of Launceston in the Derwent Valley, Miena is a small and sleepy fishing village on the southern shores of Great Lake. Great Lake, 22 km in length, holds the title of being the lake with the highest altitude in Australia.
The main drawcard of Miena is the fantastic fishing opportunities in the area that apart from attracting the country's best trout fishermen, have also attracted some famous people in the past such as George Harrison and Malcolm Fraser.
For people not interested in fishing the shores of the Great Lake are ideal for bushwalking.
