The Padthaway Wine Region is a small isolated region on the limestone coast. The region was recommended back in 1944 by the CSIRO. It was mainly suggested for horticulture, but due to the similarities with surrounding wine regions, viticulture was also implemented. The region has very rich soils and an underground water supply, also the climatic conditions are Mediterranean due to the impact of the coastline. These wonderful features have prompted many large wine companies to establish vineyards in the region. This ensures that the wine produced in this region is high quality and much sought after.
