Old Police Station Museum 

A quaint courthouse nestling in the hills is how the building was described when it was built in 1850. Being one kilometre from the main street proved too far for law and order to be maintained, and so it was used only until 1888 when the building was turned into a casualty hospital, intended for use of infectious diseases and accident cases. The building was later used to house local government employees.

The Clare branch of the National Trust of South Australia was formed in September 1964. In 1969 the building, together with two acres of land (under the control of District Council of Clare) was leased, free of charge to the National Trust who then developed the site as a museum.

The building now houses a very large collection of artefacts, most of local interest and a wonderful collection of early historic photographs of early Clare and its inhabitants.
