This historical town is situated in the Bald Hills Range, 156km north of Adelaide. A former copper mining town, it is now listed on the National Estate Register and was declared a State Heritage Area in 1993. After the closure of the Monster Mine in 1877 Burra became a service centre for an extensive agricultural and pastoral area.
