Founded in 1841 as a centre for education, with no fewer that 10 private schools in the area, Angaston is now a vibrant community with a focus on fine food and wine. Australias oldest family owned winery, Yalumba, is located here.
The main street has a variety of exceptional cafes, restaurants and hotels, as well as a range of shops, galleries and amenities. Admire the amazing colonial architecture on a stroll around town, or relax in one of its many parks.
The Barossa is dotted with many exquisite vineyards and wineries, many of which offer cellar door wine tastings, and a superb vantage point is the Menglers Hill Lookout. In Angaston's main street youll find the cellar door for Small Fry Wines and a showcase of many regional wineries at Taste Eden Valley.
Barossa Farmers Market on a Saturday morning is famous for its fresh, locally grown and made produce get there early and you wont be disappointed.
Angaston is 78km (1.5hrs) northeast of Adelaide in the Barossa Valley.
