Truro is named after the city of Truro in Cornwall, United Kingdom. This tiny, historic mining settlement is situated on the north eastern border of the Barossa Valley.
Soon after the arrival of settlers in South Australia in 1836, expeditions were sent out to explore the hinterland. In 1838 the explorers reached the Murray River passing through the Barossa Valley and past modern day Truro.
Truro has several historically important buildings including the Primary School, council chambers, the bank, Uniting Church, and the post office.
For a great morning or afternoon out in the country make sure you visit Heroes Park. On the southern side of town, the park is a pleasant ground with picnic facilities and, when there has been rain, a river running through it.
