Whitsunday Island is the major island in the Whitsunday group of 74 islands. Whitsunday Island contains numerous popular destinations for both day visitors and overnight tourists, including the grand Hill Inlet, the protected anchorage of Cid Harbour, the superb white sands of Whitehaven Beach and the sheltered waterway of Gulnare Inlet.

Whitsunday Island is accessible by boat from the mainland tourist ports of Airlie Beach and Shute Harbour. Being directly north of Hamilton Island, it is the perfect trip for some peace and quiet as most of the area is sanctioned by national parkland.
