History

Nautilus Aviation began operating in 1993, providing seaplane transfers to Orpheus Island Resort and general charter services throughout North Queensland. At that time, Nautilus was operating the only G.A.F Nomad on floats in the world. In 1995, the Nomad was replaced with a Cessna C208 Caravan amphibian, the first of its type to be operated commercially in Australia, and Nautilus was the first Charter company in Australia to be granted an approval to operate a single engined aircraft on passenger carrying charter flights ( ASETPA ) under the IFR (Instrument Flight Rules). The Company prides itself on maintaing the highest possible safety standards, and the aircraft is maintained and operated to RPT airline standards as required by the ASETPA IFR approval.
