On the scenic Blackall Range, Mapleton Falls National Park protects a small remnant of the forests which once covered this part of the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Hexagonal columns in Pencil Creek near the picnic area remain from volcanic activity 25 million years ago. Pencil Creek plunges 120m into the valley below.

Together with nearby Kondalilla National Park, this park provides an important refuge for native wildlife. Visit nearby Kondalilla National Park and Delicia Road Conservation Park or take the forest drive through Mapleton Forest Reserve.

• Facilities include picnic tables, toilets, and a track to falls which is accessible by strollers and wheelchairs. Take your own drinking water — the creek water is unsuitable for drinking. Camping is not allowed in the park.
