Beach fishing yields dart, whiting, flathead, bream and taylor. Boat ramps are at Carlo Point and Bullock Point. Tin Can Bay estuary is good for fishing and crabbing.

Bushwalking and Bird Watching - Over 200 species of birds and wildlflowers are found in the Cooloola region. Cooloola National Park has walking trails.

4WD permits can be obtained from the Department of Environment office in Rainbow Beach daily. Noosa River ferry operates daily. Tides must be considered when travelling, the beach is the road. Cooloola Way is an alternative route through Kin Kin and Pomona - rough gravel for first 34 kilometres, only marginally quicker than going through Gympie, care to be taken after rain, towing not advisable. 4WD and car hire can be organised at Rainbow Beach, Noosa, Maroochy Airport or Brisbane Airport.

Paragliding and Hang-Gliding - Paragliding tandem intro flights, one day intro courses and full license courses available. Hang-gliding take off point at Carlo Sand Blow.
