Woondum Forest Reserve is located 14 kilometres south-east of Gympie. Parts of this popular retreat-style reserve are regenerating after being logged as recently as the late 1990s. Some areas formerly used as banana farms are being reforested with eucalypt plantations.
The rocky creeks here are surrounded by tall, wet eucalypt forest & subtropical rainforest. Spend the day either having a family picnic beside the cool rock pools or among granite boulders and shady green forests, where Boulder and Woondum creeks meet.
Or take a leisurely stroll along a short walk featuring large turpentine trees and a rock hop across Boulder Creek. Either way there is plenty to do and this is a popular spot for groups and individuals alike.
